Pierre Richard Osias , writer and Poet
Born in Port de Paix, a city located in the Northwest of Haiti, to parents originally from Port de Paix, Pierre Richard Osias completed his primary education in the city before heading to the capital, Port-au-Prince, for his university studies. He also excelled in his studies at major colleges and universities in central Florida.
His passion for poetry began at a very young age, as he wrote his first poem, “A Departure of Love,” at the tender age of 9. He recently published his first collections in March 2015, featuring three different books in three different languages. Osias is the founder of a new literary movement titled “Afrikayisyanism,” which serves as the foundation for the Négritude movement of African and Martinican poets like Léopold Sédar Senghor and Aimé Fernand David Césaire, as well as the literary indigenism movement led by Dr. Jean Price Mars.
