Afrikayisyanism

Afrikayisyanism

The movement Afrikayisyanism is a literary and ideological movement led by the young intellectual ,writer , and poet, Pierre Richard Osias. The founder of the movement Afrikayisyanism, known as NEG PWOVÈB LA, was originally from one of the French colonies, Haiti. According to the father of the Afrikayisyanism movement the Ideas about the purpose and styles of the movement is generally characterized by :

  • Reaction to the poverty of the black race: Denunciation of the hypocrisy of the rich, the lack of respect of the other race toward the black race, and the misunderstanding of the complexity of the human race.
  • Identity Crisis: Acceptance of and pride of being African and Haitian or Black in general; Valorization of African and Haitian histories, traditions, and beliefs.
  • Nature lovers: Utilize mother nature as one of the sacred tools to clarify the complexity of the human race and sing the beauty of our women

This new movement is an awakening of self-reliance, self-respect, and self determination of Haitians on foreign territories. It is as well an awakening of a new spirit of togetherness. Haitian that lives everywhere in this planet earth should be one.

This movement is deeply rooted in the haitian Diaspora. The founder of the movement Afrikayisyanism bemoans the division that exists among the haitian people and the disconnection of cultural and educational aspects of the haitian society in the Diaspora. Their children know nothing about the history of their country. they have never took the time to talk to them about the stories, “Bouki and Ti Malice” the culture, the religions and others. All their children know how to do is to put the flag in their head and call themselves “ZOE”. without even knowing the meaning of the colors of the flag and the palm in it center.

The idea behind this movement is to show that Haitian is not the lifeless object society has reduced it to: instead , haitian is a vibrant creative mind that confronts racism, bulliyism, and all other forms of domination. The Founder , Osias Pierre Richard upcoming novel title Ma Tant Rose (2018) (Aunty Rose), where a mid age school teacher left her native land , haiti, to immigrate to a foreign land with no knowledge of the foreign language, due the hard time her own son was giving her in a daily basis she was obligated to take a job as a maid (housekeeper) in a small hotel barely survived the hard labor for the minimum wage and was constantly bullied by a 19 year old hispanic girl supervisor who barely spoke English.

This movement is as well a cry to rethink about the the primary language of haiti. The Haitian Creole is the language that 100% haitians speak it is then a must for it to be the primary language not the one that only 5% of haitians speak. One must remember the french language is only a trophy for our independence. Creole should be the language of the land.
