Solèy Liberasyon

Solèy Liberasyon

My collection of poetry entitled, Solèy Liberasyon, emerges as a compelling and powerful
work that challenges my readers to confront the harsh realities of the corruption of Haitian
politics. My passionate plea for the Haitian people to realize the truth about our leaders
speaks directly to those who feel marginalized and neglected. Through a complex blend of
love, nature, and activism, the way I celebrate the beauty of the Haitian Creole language,
showcasing the depth and richness of my poetry. It’s remarkable how poetry can blend
personal emotions with pressing societal issues, creating a profound impact.
Love is at the heart of my poetry, even in the midst of powerful social and political themes.
This centrality of love acts as a fundamental force, infusing hope and emotional resonance
into the most critical aspects of my work. Such a balance allows my readers to engage
personally while grappling with the larger issues affecting their nation. The presence of love
in my verses not only adds a layer of humanity, but also serves as a reminder that, despite
ongoing struggles, there is always room for compassion and connection.
In “Solèy Liberasyon”, I truly embody the essence of a patriot. Through my poetic prism, I
criticize political corruption, raise awareness and call for the unity of the Haitian people, my
people, reflecting an unwavering love for my country and its people. My dedication to
preserving and celebrating the Haitian Creole language, as well as my fervor for social
justice, describes me as a key advocate for meaningful change rooted in deep national
pride. My poetry functions as both a mirror and a powerful catalyst, inspiring the Haitian
people to pursue a better future together.

The Enduring Legacy of Haiti’s History

The Enduring Legacy of Haiti's History

Haiti, recognized as the first nation to abolish slavery and assert its independence, has emerged as a powerful symbol of resilience and courage. Since its liberation from colonial rule in 1804, Haiti’s struggle for freedom has posed challenges to countries that benefited from the institution of slavery. This commitment to liberty has made Haiti a focal point of concern for several nations, which attempted to undermine its progress by cutting off trade relations. As a result, Haiti’s economy faced significant decline, from which it has struggled to recover.

The roots of Haiti’s turbulent history can be traced back to the slave revolt of 1803, which culminated in its Declaration of Independence. This momentous event not only marked the end of slavery within its borders but also established Haiti as an emblem of human strength and determination.

However, the challenges faced by Haiti do not stem solely from external influences; they are compounded by internal factors, including issues of leadership and governance. Throughout its history, some Haitian leaders have displayed a lack of unity and visionary leadership, often repeating past mistakes instead of learning from them. This has hindered the nation’s ability to progress, while the same countries that are often viewed as friends have, at times, obstructed Haiti’s development.

It is essential to acknowledge that despite the interference of foreign nations, internal dynamics also play a significant role in Haiti’s current circumstances. Issues such as corruption and a lack of patriotism among some leaders have contributed to the nation’s struggle. Haitians must recognize that while external pressures are significant, the responsibility for the country’s trajectory also lies within.

While some nations may have intervened in Haiti’s affairs with genuine intentions of providing aid, it is often the case that these acts come with expectations of reciprocity. Therefore, the perspective that these nations will assist without anticipating benefits may be overly optimistic.

Therefore , for Haiti to establish a successful future, it is imperative for its citizens to unite and harness their potential. Other nations that have faced similar or even more challenging circumstances have made strides toward prosperity, Rwanda, for example. By learning from the past and collaborating internally, Haitians can work towards overcoming both external pressures and internal challenges, paving the way for a brighter future.

My book, “Myèl Amè,”is a bold and powerful exploration of the challenges and injustices that
confront Haitian society. In this collection, I confidently share my truths, diving deep into the
entrenched inequalities that define our nation, Haiti, and shining a spotlight on the
bourgeoisie’s role in hindering our progress.
I focus on the Haitian people, asserting that silence in the face of injustice is complicity. My
work is not just a critique; it is a compelling call to action, urging readers to embrace their
collective responsibility in addressing our country’s struggles. Through my unapologetic and
evocative poetry, I challenge societal norms and spark essential conversations about
accountability, resilience, and the urgent need for transformative change.

One of the standout pieces in *Smiling Sun* is “A Dreamer’s Dream.” This poem illustrates
the poet's skill in using metaphorical language to express the beauty of life amidst both
triumph and despair, symbolizing resilience in the face of change. Below is a brief excerpt:
“A symphony of love’s word
Mystifies the ears of the deaf
And the lips of the mute
Glorifies the beauty of life.”
This poem exemplifies Osias’s gift for evoking optimism, even in the darkest of times.

Une Justice Aveugle, Muette, et Sourde

Une Justice Aveugle, Muette, et Sourde

Last night, I drank a good portion of a famous poison. Thank the mighty for that advice. My stomach was killing me. The violence of the vicious venom crushed my soul. I was thirsty, I was choking, I could not cry. It was hell, the everlasting sufferance! The devil came to visit and enjoyed my misery. His laughter burned my soul. The fire from within rose, and I was burning as I must. Leave me alone, demon! I stated. I started to have a conversation with him for the good of Humanity. May I now describe my vision? Yes, it was hell. I saw more than a million malicious creatures enjoying a devil concert. They looked weak but rancorous.

What do I know?

Yes, it was as well life! If damnation is eternal, then he who tries to kill himself is a damn being. I believe in hell. Yes, I was in hell last night. It is the execution of catechism. You and I have been slaved of our baptism. Our parents did a great job of teaching us about hell. Now, you and I both know that hell cannot attack the non-believers. Yes, it is as well life! Later, the fruits of damnation will be more profound. A crime, come fast; I am falling into the infinite of life. But I delineate the gravity law.

Hush! But Hush! It is a shame! The hallucinations are numberless, and I assume that is what I had last night. I have used my imagination like a rich man. I am ten times wealthier than the ordinary being. My avarice of imagination is like the avarice of the sea. The poets and the foretellers must be jealous. The clock of this world stops, and I am not there. Theology is serious business; hell is down there, and heaven is up there. Yes, it is life, and I am a believer. Jesus walked on irate waters. Yes, I am a believer. I am going to devoid all the mysteries of this world, Religious mysteries as well as natural, born, death, future, and past mysteries. Can’t you see? I am the master of phantasy.

Afrikayisyanism

Afrikayisyanism

The movement Afrikayisyanism is a literary and ideological movement led by the young intellectual ,writer , and poet, Pierre Richard Osias. The founder of the movement Afrikayisyanism, known as NEG PWOVÈB LA, was originally from one of the French colonies, Haiti. According to the father of the Afrikayisyanism movement the Ideas about the purpose and styles of the movement is generally characterized by :

  • Reaction to the poverty of the black race: Denunciation of the hypocrisy of the rich, the lack of respect of the other race toward the black race, and the misunderstanding of the complexity of the human race.
  • Identity Crisis: Acceptance of and pride of being African and Haitian or Black in general; Valorization of African and Haitian histories, traditions, and beliefs.
  • Nature lovers: Utilize mother nature as one of the sacred tools to clarify the complexity of the human race and sing the beauty of our women

This new movement is an awakening of self-reliance, self-respect, and self determination of Haitians on foreign territories. It is as well an awakening of a new spirit of togetherness. Haitian that lives everywhere in this planet earth should be one.

This movement is deeply rooted in the haitian Diaspora. The founder of the movement Afrikayisyanism bemoans the division that exists among the haitian people and the disconnection of cultural and educational aspects of the haitian society in the Diaspora. Their children know nothing about the history of their country. they have never took the time to talk to them about the stories, “Bouki and Ti Malice” the culture, the religions and others. All their children know how to do is to put the flag in their head and call themselves “ZOE”. without even knowing the meaning of the colors of the flag and the palm in it center.

The idea behind this movement is to show that Haitian is not the lifeless object society has reduced it to: instead , haitian is a vibrant creative mind that confronts racism, bulliyism, and all other forms of domination. The Founder , Osias Pierre Richard upcoming novel title Ma Tant Rose (2018) (Aunty Rose), where a mid age school teacher left her native land , haiti, to immigrate to a foreign land with no knowledge of the foreign language, due the hard time her own son was giving her in a daily basis she was obligated to take a job as a maid (housekeeper) in a small hotel barely survived the hard labor for the minimum wage and was constantly bullied by a 19 year old hispanic girl supervisor who barely spoke English.

This movement is as well a cry to rethink about the the primary language of haiti. The Haitian Creole is the language that 100% haitians speak it is then a must for it to be the primary language not the one that only 5% of haitians speak. One must remember the french language is only a trophy for our independence. Creole should be the language of the land.
